Afghan and Gujarat Titans (GT) player Rashid Khan broke Jasprit Bumrah’s record during the 5th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) on Wednesday, March 26. Rashid recorded 150 wickets in IPL when he knocked out Punjab Kings player Priyansh Ariya in the seventh over of the match.
Rashid got rid of the young player on his IPL debut who looked superb with 47 (23) balls played. As a result, Rashid managed to hit his milestone and he even reached it faster than Jasprit Bumrah. It took Rashid 122 matches to take 150 wickets and become the third fastest to reach this target in IPL history.
He surpassed Bamra in the list, who took 124 matches to cross the milestone. Yuzvendra Chahal (118 matches) was the second fastest to reach 150 wickets in IPL, while Lasith Malinga (105 matches) was the fastest.
Rashid is the 11th highest wicket-taker in IPL with 150 in 122 matches at an average of 22 and an economy rate of 6.86. Rashid’s best season in IPL came in 2023 when he took 27 wickets in 17 innings at an average of 20.44. That season, he also made a hat-trick in a game against Kolkata Knight Riders but eventually lost as Rinku Singh scored five consecutive sixes.
However, apart from Arya’s wicket, Rashid failed to be memorable in the game against Punjab as he conceded 48 in four overs and picked up just one wicket.
